Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tower Of Doom
Year: 1990
Ages: 5+
Players: 1-4 (For the purpose of this review, there were 2 players)
Set Up Time: 3 minutes
Playing Time: Took us 12 minutes.
Object: Be the first player to complete your scoring pizza by rescuing enough Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Review:
+ Unique. Being able to stand in front of the game with your pizza scooper and try to figure out which hole the Turtles will come out of is lots of fun.
+ Very easy for the suggested age group (5+) to play. Remove swords, catch Turtles, get pieces of a pizza.
- Same idea as Kerplunk. You stick 16 swords into the tower, drop the 4 Turtles & Shredder and Splinter into the top and draw swords waiting for them to fall down. My complaint about this is the same as my complaint about Kerplunk. It only takes you a minute or two to take out all the swords and have the people fall out but it takes you 2-3 minutes to re-load all of the swords into the right spots. In our 12 minute game we probably only removed swords and caught turtles for about 3 minutes.
Overall:
Although this game is very unique and simple for kids, the constant loading and re-loading of the swords is enough to make any sane person crazy. It's pretty much a 2-3 minute set up for every 1 minute of play making it extremely frustrating but it's definitely not the worst Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game around.
