Game Time! Chloe's Dream Resort Game Review

Chloe's Dream Resort

Last Updated: 2014

Company: GameHouse

# of Levels: 60

Price I Paid: $3.49 (Full game)

Time Spent Playing: 4 hours and 11 minutes

Story Line: Help weary workers relax and unwind after a hard day's work in Chloe's Dream Resort.

Review:
+ Having Chloe help workers relax in a dream resort is completely original. I haven't seen or played anything quite like this game.

+ This game is different in the sense that all the customers want different things at different times in different orders. In some games people move from one counter to the next but here (in the skiing dream for example) some clients may want to visit the hot tub before skiing and other may not want to ski at all but instead roast s'mores over the fire. Even the same customers (the blonde girls, the old men, etc) don't request the same things which is fantastic because it always keeps you on your toes.

+ I really enjoy the progression of skill in this game. Some games start out hard and are tough all the way through, some start easy and are easy all the way through. This game starts easier and then by the casino dream level, it really becomes a challenge (see picture 3).

+ There are five different dream locations (each with 12 levels) and every one of them is completely different with completely different items and activities for the customers to do, which keeps the game from getting boring and repetitive.

+ This is one of the few time management games I've found that DON'T have mini games during the levels. This is fantastic as the mini games are always what slows me down. The game play feels much less choppy and I'm able to concentrate on speed. There are a couple of mini games to play after several levels that will help you upgrade your dream lands but none during the actual level play.

+ All of the levels are super cool and very imaginative, which fits perfectly with the game because it's all based in people's dreams. Without a doubt my favorite level is the amusement park (see picture 2). I love everything amusement park related (probably do to my extensive time playing Roller Coaster Tycoon as a teen!)

- I feel like the screen is stretched sideways. Is that just me?

- In every dream location there is a cook that always makes food and drink(s). This is the only time that I found the controls to be a problem. The food is always small (especially the drinks) so sometimes I have to click more than once to order or pick up what I'm asking for.

- There is almost always constant talking at the beginning of each level between Chloe and the chef. She is offering tips and advice but it's all in very long sentence form and I couldn't be bothered to read most of it since I'm no stranger to time management games. The only good thing about this is that there is a button at the bottom that says "skip tutorial" and although you will have to hit it at every level where there's chatter, at least there's a way to stop it and move on.

- Every dream has a different "bad guy" who wants to ruin everyone's good time. When the monster pops out of his hiding spot you have to tap on him repeatedly to make him go away. However he will keep popping up during the whole level, so get used to it.

- I wish that they would have made an upgrade you could buy to keep the "bad guys" away. Even if it was pretty expensive, it would be so worth it.

- I feel like I have to mention this even though it's an annoyance that has very little to do with the game but they really need to work on making Chloe's waist a little larger. Look at the top picture and you'll see what I mean. There is just no reason to make her waist THAT small.

Overall (Would I recommend it?):
This was my first time playing Chloe's Dream Resort and I really enjoyed it. I'm always thankful when you can download a trial version before paying money for the whole game. That strategy has saved me from buying a ton of crappy games. There are five different dream locations which all all different and none of them feature mini games throughout the game play. The food is a bit small for the controls and there is no upgrade to make the "bad guys" completely disappear which are both unfortunate but as far as original time management style games go, this game is truly a dream come true. Pun intended.

Game Play Tips:
- In the first four levels the "bad guy" will make most of your customers lose a heart each if you forget to tap on him which isn't a big deal. At the last casino dream location you will NEED to make sure to tap on him and make him go away because he will FRY half of your customers leaving them with no hearts, meaning they need to check out and you won't make any money from them.
- Make sure to have the food and drinks already prepared and waiting so you can give it to the customer without making them wait.
- You are given a cloud with a few cloud babies that give customers an extra heart. Make sure to use up these cloud babies every level so you get the highest tips that you can. Typically, I give them to the customers that come in the middle of the level. There are fewer customers at the beginning and endings of levels so I have more time to take care of them better but the rush is always during the middle.
