The Player: Episode 1- "Pilot" Review

Episode 1- "Pilot"
I really didn't think I was going to get much out of this series so I was pleasantly surprised when half way through the episode I already knew it would be staying on my PVR. The series premiere was action packed and introduced the concept which is pretty much like Bourne Identity meets The Hunger Games. The concept is a bit far fetched (rich people bet money on whether Alex (Winchester) can race against the clock to stop crimes from happening) but what it lacks in believability it makes up for in entertainment value. The only issue I had with the pilot episode was the fact that time moved very fast, so when Alex states that he needs to check out a warehouse, the very next scene he's at the warehouse or when he's looking for a decoy, the decoy is suddenly found.  I know Phillip Winchester was one of the main stars of Strike Back but I had no idea just how amazing he was, and let's be honest, he's very easy on the eyes. He can handle the lead role in this series and I think he should STRONGLY be considered as the next James Bond. He has what it takes and I'm sure in the years to come he will be a household name.

This pilot episode was one of the better ones (so far) this fall. I'm interested to see how the series progresses in next few episodes and hoping for a few more shirtless scenes with Phillip Winchester.

7/10
