Game Time! Price Is Right DVD Edition
Year: 2005
Ages: 8+
Players: 1-6 (For the purpose of this review, there were 3 players)
Set Up Time: < 1 minute
Playing Time: Took us 15 minutes.
Object: Win prizes for a chance to win at the showcase showdown just like on the TV show.
Review:
+ The game is played in stages just like on the show. It starts out with contestants row and then goes to a random (out of 12) pricing game and then the wheel spin. From there, the two wheels spin winners face off in the Showcase Showdown. This series of games gets repeated depending on how many players there are.
+ The announcer explains all of the products in extreme detail, just like on the show
+ There are 12 different pricing games meaning you won't always have to play the same ones.
- There is no Bob Barker or host at all. The announcer does all the explaining and product descriptions.
- After every section (contestants row, pricing games, wheel spin) the DVD goes back to the main screen so you can pick your next choice meaning that this game doesn't play through. It's also horrible because the main screen plays the theme music over and over and it's about 100 times louder then any of the game options. I found myself muting the main screen (for sake of my sanity) which then I had to constantly remember to un-mute it to play the games.
- At the Showcase Showdown after seeing the prizes, you have to pick your amount out of a choice of 6 amounts. Meaning that you can't type in your own amount which is both good (because both the players who made it to the Showcase were off in numbers by $20,000+ per showcase) and bad (because limited options make it easier to win).
Overall:
