The Bat (1959) Movie Review
A mystery writer rents "The Oaks" house in a town which has been terrorized by a murderer called "The Bat". He is said to kill women by ripping their throats open with steel claws. Symotaniously, the bank has noticed that a million dollars in securities have gone missing. We soon discover that the bank owner has taken the money and plans to fake his own death but before he can do that the doctor, who he revealed his plans to, kills him. The mystery writer uses this situation for her next book while trying to solve both the crimes of "The Bat" and where is the missing money.
It's a who-done-it mystery movie that the audience get to play along with. What really kept me guessing who "The Bat" was, was the fact that all three gentleman that were accused of being "The Bat" were all about the same height and all had the same body built. It made it very difficult to figure it out before it was revealed.
This is another winning Vincent Price movie done in black and white which features some strong female characters. It's a must watch for any viewer that likes to solve the crimes before they are revealed, any Vincent Price fan or just a fan of 50s style horror movies.
Grade: B+
