1st Annual TV Awards: Part 2
Best Actress- Comedy
Nominees:
- Allison Janney (Bonnie, Mom)
Whether her character is on the floor after a back spasm or trying to outrun her daughter up a jungle jim, Allison puts everything she has into Bonnie. She's able to play off other characters and comes across in a way that you can see her characters scars and flaws just by listening to her.
- Amy Poehler (Leslie Knope, Parks & Recreation)
Amy makes the character of Leslie come alive with her energy, enthusiasm and her contagious positive energy. She shows what a strong woman she is both on screen and off.
- Anna Faris (Christy, Mom)
No stranger to physical comedy, Anna really takes on the damaged character of Christy who is always trying to do the right thing, despite her addictions and her past.
- Cristela Alonzo (Cristela, Cristela)
Cristela took her real life adventures and put them on the screen for everyone to see. Playing a version of her real life self, she's never afraid to go for the laugh and always comes across as a character who's very comfortable in her own skin.
- Emily Osment (Gabi Diamond, Young & Hungry)
Emily Osment plays Gabi so well that I kind of forget that she isn't Gabi. She's a pro with comedic timing and works off the other characters extremely well.
Winner: Allison Janney (Bonnie, Mom)
After watching Bonnie rekindle her romance with Christy's dad just to watch him die which left her heartbroken and fall off the wagon, it's no surprise Allison takes home the win. She's such a strong actress with the ability to do so much physical comedy and the show wouldn't be the same without her.Best Actor- Comedy
Nominees:
- Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper, The Big Bang Theory)
Jim Parsons is able to convey so many personality traits of Shelton that I don't think all actors would be able to. He's always on key, has a ton of quirks to remember and is such an unforgettable character.
- Sean Giambrone (Adam Goldberg, The Goldbergs)
This 16 year old is well deserving for a nomination in this category because he uses his acting chops not only through the script but his facial expressions and the emotion and emphesses he puts into his character, doesn't go unnoticed.
- Skylar Astin (Brody, Ground Floor)
There are so many different personalities on Ground Floor but Skylar manages to make the character of Brody a mix of all of them depending on the situation.
- Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy, Modern Family)
Ty is the perfect person to have cast at Phil because he's not afraid to be a little over-the-top with his character and never shies away from physical comedy.
- Will Arnett (Nathan Miller, The Millers)
Nathan Miller has so much going on in his life with his parents divorcing and his mother trying to smother him and I think Will does such a great job of conveying this character believably.
Winner: Sean Giambrone (Adam Goldberg, The Goldbergs)
Being the youngest in this Best Actor category, Sean Giambrone surely deserved the win. Not only is his comedic timing on spot and can sometimes say more in his facial expressions than in his words but he's so perfectly cast that without him, the show would have a harder time succeeding.
