Game Time! Rugrats Turn The House Upside Down 3D Board Game Review

Rugrats Turn The House Upside Down 3D Board Game

Year: 1992

Ages: 6+

Players: 2-4 players (For the purpose of this review, 2 people played)

Set Up Time: 9 minutes

Playing Time: Took us 8 minutes

Object: Be the first player to mess up items around the house.

Review:
+ You are able to play as your favorite Rugrats characters.
+ The pawns have fronts and back which I thought was hilarious and clever because you can easily see what direction all the players are facing.
+ The cards are kid friendly and have funny questions on them. For example, the card with the picture of Spike's dog food on it says "what does dog food taste like"?
+ The board looks like a 3D version Tommy's house complete with two levels and a roof.

- Again, the 3D boards just don't hold up overtime especially if the game was played a lot. It's essential to have this game in working order since you need to visit two levels of the house as well as the roof. If the middle floor is wrecked/missing/broken it pretty much renders the game unplayable.
- When you role a certain number (6 for example) you get to pick up a card that gives you an item that you need to turn upside down. Unfortunately if you are fast at finishing your tasks you might end up rolling the dice and aimlessly wandering around the board until you finally roll your number (6). When we were playing there was a time when both of us were wandering around just waiting for our dice to roll the right number. The rules should instead be when you finish a task you can discard your card and take another one.

Overall:
The concept of this game is pretty fun because what kid doesn't want to mess up a house? It's great that you get to play as your favorite characters and walk around a two story 3D house. The downside is if the
house is in rough condition it makes it hard to play the game. Although the set up time actually took us longer than it did to play the game, I really enjoyed it. Clearly it was meant for kids with their easy to see colors and the funny questions on the cards you get. Next time we play the game (and there will be a next time), I think we will just leave it all set up.
