First Impressions: Fall TV Pilots 2016- FOX Dramas

Fall TV Pilots 2016 (FOX- Dramas)

Which drama series will FOX pick up? I'll dissect which shows I'm looking forward too and which shows will be successful based on first impressions.
For the full list of Fall TV Pilots 2016, check out EW's article.

24: Legacy
The 24 series will continue without Kiefer Sutherland but with Corey Hawkins "a military's hero's return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back" leading the series. This series was extremely popular back in its heyday and did quite well when it briefly came back. Will it be the same with Corey instead of Kiefer? Only time will tell.
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Yes

Will It Be Successful? 50/50 as it's really going to depend on how the viewers will like Corey Hawkins as opposed to long-running main man Kiefer Sutherland.
Was My Guess Correct? Yes, this series has been picked up.

A.P.B.
This series follows "a tech billionaire who purchases a troubled police precinct in the wake of a loved one's murder". Wait, can people actually buy a police precinct in real life? Wouldn't it be run by a city or federal/provincial government? As much as this concept seems very strange, Justin Kirk (Weeds) would do a fantastic job as the "tech billionaire".
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Probably
Will It Be Successful? I don't know. I'm too busy wondering if a billionaire can actually BUY a police precinct?
Was My Guess Correct? Yes, this series has been picked up

The Exorcist
This "modern reinvention inspired by William Blatty's original 1971 book" will follow "two very different men tackling one family's case of horrifying demonic possession". The Exorcist is a pretty classic horror movie and I don't think that FOX is the right network to make this series all it could be. AMC's been successful with The Walking Dead, while Showtime has Penny Dreadful and WGN America has Salem so it's going to take a lot for FOX to make this series successful when they are many other networks that could have made it better.
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Yes, this series was picked up.
Will It Be Successful? No, this is the wrong network for this series. If NBC couldn't make Hannibal last, FOX has no hope here.

Lethal Weapon
Remember just recently when CBS tried to reboot Rush Hour and it really didn't do what they hoped it would? I fear this will be the same thing.
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Probably
Will It Be Successful? 50/50 as it really depends on the cast and how well it's written.
Was My Guess Correct? Yes, this series has been picked up.

Pitch
Pitch "follows a young female pitcher who defies the odds when she becomes the first woman to play in the major leagues." First of all, this sounds like snoozeville. Secondly, the FOX network really features more male dominated entertainment and this series featuring a young woman as the main character would really be going out on a limb and could probably be a lot more popular on a network like WGN America or Freeform.
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Hopefully not as it will fail, badly.
Will It Be Successful? No, even if somehow this series got picked up, it wouldn't last because it doesn't fit in with their other series.
Was My Guess Correct? No, this series was picked up, which is going to be a mistake.

Prison Break
This "next chapter" in the Prison Break series "picks up when clues surface suggesting the prevsiouly believed-to-be-dead Michael may actually be alive". The fact that they are bringing back most of the original cast will help this next chapter in the series live closely to the popularity of the original series run.
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Yes, FOX just did the same thing with bringing back X-Files (which went relatively well) so I'm sure they will be on-board to bring back this series.
Will It Be Successful? Initially, yes but it will depend on how long it plans on running this series for because after a couple of years I fear it would get stale.

Recon
This series will follow "a rookie FBI agent who embeds herself in a suspected terrorist family". With FOX airing shows like Sleepy Hollow, Bones, Rosewood, Lucifier on their network, this series would probably fit right in.
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Yes as FOX is probably hoping this will be the rival to ABC's Quantico.

Will It Be Successful? Could go either way as there is already a lot of series on TV that deals with terrorists.

Shots Fired
Shots Fired "examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small town Tennessee". I think this series will do pretty well just based on the race issues that America deals with on a daily basis. Every time you turn on the news you hear a story like this and I hope that this series will bring the issue to light.
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Yes, this series has been picked up.
Will It Be Successful? I hope so but it will depend on how well it's written.
Was My Guess Correct? Yes, this series has been picked up.

Star
This series (which sounds a lot like a modern day Dreamgirls) features "the story of three young women, all with hopes of making it big and the choices they're faced with along the way". Lee Daniels (one of the creators of Empire) will write and co-exective produce this series which really just sounds like a spin-off of Empire. As much as I love Empire, I don't know if the network really has room for two musical series that will probably seem very similar. Viewers have already seen how FOX handles a musical series so I would really have liked this series to be on a different network such as FX or Starz (which recently did Flesh & Bone- a series about the cutthroat world of professional ballet).
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Probably as they will bank on the success of Empire.
Will It Be Successful? 50/50 as the viewers from Empire will probably tune in but they might find it too similar in feel.
Was My Guess Correct? Yes, this series was picked up.

Zoobiquity
First of all, this title is stupid and I wasted too many minutes of my life trying to say it. Secondly, the concept of "an unconventional medical procedure follows the unlikely pairing of a successful, driven cardiologist as she risks career suicide by teaming with a socially-challenged veterinarian who relates better to animals than people" feel super far fetched and slightly uncomfortable. I would hate to be in a hospital and have someone tell me that a veterinarian and a cardiologist are trying to cure me with "a unique blend of cross-species medicine". Seriously FOX, just no.
Will This Series Be Picked Up? Please God no.
Will This Series Be Successful? As popular as medical shows are on TV, this concept seems WAY to out there to catch on.
Was My Guess Correct? Yes, thankfully this series was not picked up.
